Encamp town stands at an altitude of 1.280 metres. The parish of Encamp is divided into two population centres, the first being the town of Encamp itself situated at the geographical centre of Andorra, the other being centred on the border town of Pas de la Casa. The town of Encamp now boasts the Funicamp lift (the longest of its type in the world) allowing direct access to the Grandvalira ski area.

Car enthausiats should pay a visit to the National Car Museum.

Ordino

Peaceful and traditional in character, it houses the Museum d’Areny i Plandolit which is a perfect example of a true wealthy Andorran family home.

This parish was mostly devoted to mining and metallurgy, but now lends itself to tourism with its uniquely beautiful ancient stone and slate roofed houses.

The altitude here stands at 1.298 metres. There are many fascinating museums to visit within this area which will supply the visitor or new resident to Andorra with a true and interesting insight into the Andorran culture and way of life.

Escaldes-Egordany

The last parish in order of protocol was created in 1978. Escaldes comes from the Romans and refers to hot springs, which flow at a temperature of 70ºC making them the hottest in Europe. A textile industry was developed in the 15th century, taking advantage of the waters to wash and dye wool.

Escaldes was set on the shady part of the valley, but Engordany with the denser population and on the sunny side, was soon absorbed by the rapidly developing Escaldes.
